Uploading:
Speed of your uploading of files to the lab are dependant on a number of factors.
1.The bandwidth available. We recommend broadband (ADSL or Cable).
2.Your plan with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Most plans are designated with the download speed / upload speed. e.g. 1500/256 this means you can download files to your computer at 1500 kbps but can only upload files to an external computer at 256 kbps. If most of your work involves sending files to others try to get the fastest upload speed you can afford. NB Take care when you are near the limit of your plan as your plan may have unlimited downloads/uploads but may reduce the speed to 64 kbps when you reach a certain number of megabytes or gigabytes moved over the internet.
3. The download speed of the computer you are sending files to.
4. The amount of traffic on the internet at the time.
5. Check your upload speed when uploading files. This can be done when you are using an FTP program.
